The Director of Finance is responsible for leading project and corporate financing initiatives. The position manages the company’s financing processes, including modeling and underwriting for financial plans, refinance loans, construction loans, deal structuring, debt procurement, debt management, forecasting and performance analysis.  Performance analysis may include Net Asset Value reporting, capital improvement evaluation,  and financial performance tracking of existing operations.  The Director of Finance is directly involved in complex real estate development transactions and will be a key player in coordinating and synthesizing information for a cross-functional team responsible for securing, closing, and executing these projects. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will also work closely with Vice President of Development and Vice President of Construction.

Qualifications

Summary of the Position:

  • Direct financing and forecasting processes for all new development projects, and work with Development and Accounting Teams to ensure corporate forecasting includes most recent information.
  • Perform modeling and financial analysis for all new projects, and existing assets positioned for refinance. Manage debt financing platform for the company’s real estate portfolio and for new and existing real estate developments.
  • Responsible for compliance and reporting functions related to the loans, coordinating with accounting personnel to ensure all financial statements reporting requirements are met.
  • Develop corporate policies and procedures related to the company’s financing initiatives.
  • Review loan documents and manage loan closing process, including handling all lender and third-party deliverables.
  • Negotiate construction loans for new development projects and permanent refinances for maturing loans.
  • Prepare multifamily loan applications and packages for financing.
  • Manage and expand lender relationships.
  • Assist real estate and development teams with in-depth due diligence on as needed basis.
  • Assist/lead ad hoc analysis projects for the Chief Executive Officer and Founder. 

Qualifications Required:  

  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in Real Estate Finance, Commercial Banking, or Private Equity
  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to design/build complex models
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data
  • Working knowledge of construction and mortgage loan concepts.
  • Highly critical and analytical personality; attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with key stakeholders (internally and externally)
  • Must be able to excel in cross collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong ambition to advance through dedicated work and a desire to learn
  • Undergrad in Finance and/or Accounting (MBA preferred)
  • CPA and/or CFA preferred 

Working Environment:  

  • Typical office setting but requires a great deal of out of office tasks.
  • Physical demands include typing, sitting, seeing, hearing, communicating, writing, standing, lifting, and traveling.
  • Outdoor and indoor work required, changing weather conditions.
  • Outdoor activities and commuting from one home to another or one building to another.
