CLASSIFICATION TITLE:

Marketing and Communications Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the creation and coordination of messages and communications using the power of words to implement effective communication materials and campaigns across varying platforms including but not limited to social media, websites, digital newsletters, and print publications.

  • Designs, develops, and updates web, video and print social and digital media. Provides media and communications proposals to the department chair.
  • Regularly communicate to students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders through electronic, print, and social media.
  • Designs publications, brochures, flyers, bookmarks, newsletters, and other materials in various formats. Conducts final review and approval before communications are released.
  • Assists in producing videos for the department and it programs and projects.
  • Manages a social media presence for the department. Collects and analyzes trends and audience data. Uses the data when developing and implementing branding and communications programs. Upholds the University of Florida and IFAS brands.
  • Solicits and collects material for social media from students, faculty and staff.
  • Maintains an active social media presence.
  • Assists in preparation of images for use in reports, presentations, and publications (for scientific and non-scientific audiences).
  • Edits materials for grammar and graphic clarity.
  • Conducts interviews and collects information from various sources and prepares into written and/or video format.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all work.
EXPECTED SALARY:

Starting at $44,700 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an associate's degree and five years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms.

Demonstrated proficiency in various writing styles including news releases.

Communication skills (verbal and written); demonstrated high proficiency and excellence in writing and editing.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.

Ability to meet deadlines with fast turnaround.

Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment.

Experience with T4.

zExperience in an academic and/or scientific work environment.
