Job Description

SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant/Xray Tech for our Podiatry office in Gainesville, FL. 

The Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician (MA/XRT) is responsible for the management and flow of the clinical day. It is the MA/XRT’s responsibility to ensure that patients receive clinical care such as vital signs, assisting MD’s with procedures, and other patient care duties.  The MA/XRT is also responsible for ensuring that all surgeries are scheduled and authorization data entered into the computer system (if applicable).
The MA/RT shall perform diagnostic procedures ordered by the physician. Additionally, the MA/XRT will perform radiologic exams (limited to Podiatry department and equipment). 

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent REQUIRED
  • Current CPR/BLS REQUIRED
  • Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant Program - preferred.
  • Basic X-Ray Machine Operator Certification REQUIRED
  • Successful completion of RT Certification (Radiologic Technologist) - preferred
  • One or more years in a private office setting as a medical assistant - preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a general radiographer - preferred
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in a hospital or medical office setting - preferred
  • Intergy or similar EMR software system experience - preferred.
     

Listed below are some of the duties and responsibilities for the (MA/XRT):

General Responsibilities:

  • Review charts to ensure that all appropriate documentation is present.  Ensure copies of reports, diagnostic test results, etc… are available in the chart if needed.
  • Room patients; obtain full set of accurate vital signs and document in chart or EHR. (Obtain vital signs such as height, weight and temperature; past medical history (or changes) and review meds / document meds from outside sources)
  • Call in medication refills after prior approval from the physician
  • Administer medications as ordered by provider (e.g. injections, oral and topical) for which you are qualified and instructed. Pull all new diagnostic and lab results daily and gives to physician for review.
  • May perform EKGs, spirometry testing, dressings and wound care depending on practice make up.
  • Check samples for expiration dates monthly and properly discard outdated medications.
  • Triage and screen telephone calls and retrieve voice mail messages promptly; inform physician of all patient communications.   
  • Keep work area clean and safe and properly dispose of all sharps containers and biohazard waste for each room.
  • Prepare insurance forms, as needed, for physician's signature.
  • Assisting with patient referrals and/or authorizations for surgical procedures or other procedures as needed.
  • Keep exam rooms clean and ensure patient rooms are neat and stocked. Notify manager of any supplies needed. 
  • Assist with the ordering of medical supplies.  
  • Ensure referral forms and documents for patients are stocked at front desk or in exam rooms at all times.
  • Sending correspondences to patients, physicians or staff as needed.

X- Ray:

  • Shall be capable of assisting patients from a wheelchair or stretcher onto the x-ray table or be able to assist patient in positioning for an x-ray.
  • Will warm up x-ray equipment and processor for daily use.
  • Will perform general radiograph exams per physician or provider orders.
  • Will assist medical providers with obtaining radiography reports.  
  • Will order and stock supplies for daily use.
  • Ensure radiographic supplies are in good working order and inform supervisor if attention is needed.
