Job Description
 Alliance Overview: North Central Florida Alliance for the Homeless and Hungry (“Alliance”) serves as the local Continuum of Care and partners with the community to prevent and end homelessness and hunger, and to increase self-sufficiency for individuals and families by providing leadership, advocacy, support, standards and funding. We serve Alachua, Bradford, Gilchrist, Levy and Putnam counties.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landlords that provide housing in the private rental market for program participants.
  • Conduct outreach to landlords, landlord groups and/or associations, present information about the program(s), and build landlord partnerships.
  • Proactively seek out and identify available housing units and collaborate with landlords and case managers to support client housing placement and retention
  • Coordinate with case management staff to match and place households with available housing units and assists them throughout the lease application and placement process.
  • Assist clients with negotiating leases with landlords.
  • Conduct and document a pre-move-in inspection of units to ensure basic habitability, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Assist participants and landlords with mediating and resolving conflicts in coordination with Case Managers.
  • Record, track and disseminate information on identified available housing units.
  • Make regular data entries and maintain housing resources database.
  • Serve as an information resource by conducting research, assembling data, and performing special projects.
  • Create and maintain resource guides on local area housing market, local landlords, tenant rights, eviction prevention, financial advice and other topics to assist families in securing and maintaining housing.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations about housing resources to staff, current and potential program participants and other service providers.
  • Prepare and deliver orientations to the Rapid Rehousing program(s) and tenant education workshops (i.e. how to do a housing search, how to be a good tenant, tenant rights and responsibilities, etc.) to participants.
  • Complete and maintain required handwritten and computer-based records, files, correspondence, and statistics in a timely, clear and thorough, accurate, and legible manner.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications 
  • Understanding and commitment to “Housing First” principles in ending homelessness
  • Knowledge of local rental housing market, and local housing resources a plus. Demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate authority and sound judgement, when needed.
  • Ability to uphold program and personnel policies and procedures and to support staff in doing so.
  • Basic understanding of mental health, physical health and substance abuse issues and symptoms.
  • Excellent written communication skills; ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner 
  • Experience working in a nonprofit setting with significant information reporting requirements strongly desired 
  • Must be a self-directed, highly organized person who can effectively prioritize and follow through on multiple projects, who takes pride in producing quality work and is willing to learn new things
  • Ability to work independently, both on site at the office located in Gainesville, FL as well as telecommute and in the community
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • experience working with homeless or other vulnerable populations or any combination of work experience and education which demonstrates the ability to consistently perform the duties of the position, bilingual candidate preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and use of a car for moderate local travel within county.
 Estimated salary range: $45,000-$48,000.
 
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
