Middle and high school students and their parents/guardians from the Gainesville region are invited to participate in Career Discoveries on Oct. 17 at the Professional Academies Magnet at Loften High School. The purpose of this event is to educate participants on career opportunities and potential career pathways within our community.

Several members from the local business community, including RTI Surgical, Kidder Advisers, LLC, Gainesville Dev Academy and the University of Florida Center of Excellence for Regenerative Biotechnology, will speak on behalf of the following five industries.

• Advanced Logistics and Manufacturing
• Advanced Materials
• Agricultural Life Sciences
• Human Life Sciences
• Software and Information Technology

Career Discoveries also features industry break-out sessions, which include a minimum of two panelists from the business community. This event is hosted by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Talent Alignment and Education committee and the Alachua County Education Compact. 

Career Discoveries will take place Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 3000 E. University Ave. All interested business professionals, middle and high school students and parents are welcome to attend.
