Wage Hour Law Update
Don’s presentation will provide attendees a review of recent developments in wage and hour law and how they impact business and human resource professionals. Topics to be covered include:
· The DOL’s new “white collar” regulations, the “salary basis” test and possible modification of the “duties” tests.
· Collective actions under the FLSA in Florida – The “1-800 Goldmine.”
· Prospects for a statutory minimum wage in Florida.
· Defensive strategies to avoid wage hour claims.
DONALD C. WORKS, III
Donald C. Works, III, is Managing Principal of the Orlando office of Jackson Lewis P.C. where he specializes in all aspects of employment law representing management. Mr. Works is a graduate of Auburn University (B.S., Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, 1977) and the University of Miami (J.D., 1981). Mr. Works currently serves as the State Director of Government Affairs for HR Florida. In addition, he is Past President of the Central Florida Human Resource Association and the Human Resource Association of Broward County. A SHRM “Senior Certified Professional” and HRCI “Senior Professional in Human Resources,” he is a regular speaker and has published several articles on wage/hour and employment law topics. Mr. Works has been recognized by his peers in the publications, “Best Lawyers in America” and Florida’s “Super Lawyers.”
