The Hippodrome Cinema Ribbon Cutting
Join us as we celebrate the re-opening of the Hippodrome Cinema!
The Hippodrome was officially founded in 1973 by six artists with the goal of presenting the best in challenging, contemporary theatre. In 1979, the Hippodrome moved into the historic federal building. In 1981, the Hippodrome was designated a State Theatre of Florida. In addition to the mainstage theatre, the Hippodrome features a Cinema that has over 700 screenings per year. The Hipp is excited to welcome the North Florida community back into their Cinema. The Cinema underwent a much-needed revitalization, which was generously funded by the Wild Spaces & Public Places sales tax of the City of Gainesville.
Join us for drinks, speeches, tours, mingling and more! The ribbon cutting ceremony will commence at 4:30pm.
