Name: The String Kings to Play at 'Free Fridays' Concert Series
Date: August 1, 2014
Time: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
The String Kings will perform at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza at 8 p.m. Friday, August 1 as   part of the “Free Fridays” concert series.

The String Kings perform a home-grown style of music that has entertained Gainesville and surrounding areas for many years. Rick Hutton, Danny Brasher, Jerry Troncale and Bob Kelly are known for covering a wide range of songs from the ‘60s to modern day, oftentimes adding their own unique style. Playing a blend of classic and new rock, the band also mixes in a few original songs. “We’ve all got day jobs,” guitarist and vocalist Danny Brasher said. “This is our hobby, but it’s also our passion.  We love to get people moving to the music, and like to change things up in our song selection to keep it exciting.  We’ve gotten a really good response playing the music that we like to play.”

The String Kings concert at “Free Fridays” is sponsored by classic rock radio station WIND-FM (92.5, 95.5, 107.9).

The 2014 “Free Fridays” concert series is produced by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The concerts will play each Friday night this year from Friday, May 2 through Friday, Oct. 24 from 8-10 p.m. at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza, which is located at 111 E. University Ave. To view the complete “Free Fridays” 2014 schedule, please visit the Cultural Affairs Division website at www.gvlculturalaffairs.org
