Financial Aid Representative - Customer Service

Spherion Gainesville, FL is seeking a dedicated Financial Aid Representative to join a client's Financial Aid Department. This role is focused on providing exceptional customer service and expert assistance with financial aid services. Let's get to work!

Location: Gainesville, FL

Schedule: Full-Time, M-F, 8 am – 5 pm

Pay Rate: $18.05/hr

Role Snapshot: Customer-Focused Financial Aid Support

You will be the primary point of contact, offering clear, empathetic guidance on financial aid opportunities, eligibility, and the application process (in-person, phone, and email).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Support: Counsel students/faculty on financial aid, processes, and college resources.

  • Compliance: Strictly adhere to institutional, state, and federal guidelines (including FERPA).

  • Issue Resolution: Assess complex situations, analyze conflicting data, and resolve eligibility issues.

  • Documentation: Thoroughly document all interactions and file details (electronic/manual).

  • Data Integrity: Verify accuracy of financial aid forms, legal documents, and supporting evidence.

  • Service Excellence: Communicate tactfully, exercise diplomacy, and use de-escalation strategies to handle challenging or sensitive situations with compassion.

Requirements

  • Proven Customer Service skills; ability to respond promptly and courteously, demonstrating patience with those who have limited computer skills.

  • Experience in financial aid administration, student services, or a comparable operational environment.

  • Strong Empathy and Ethics to handle sensitive information and challenging scenarios with integrity and professionalism.

Skills

  • Excellent Communication skills (professional, diplomatic, empathetic).

  • Detail-Oriented for high-accuracy data entry and document review.

A degree (AA/AS) and/or experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and financial aid software are a plus.
