Director of Financial Services

Spherion Gainesville, FL has a local client seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Financial Services, where you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial operations. This is a crucial leadership role overseeing financial planning, reporting, and compliance. 


Location: Gainesville, FL
Pay Rate: $70,000 - $75,000 Annually + Benefits
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Position Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time, Permanent


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance and Business Affairs team, setting goals, planning workflow, and providing guidance.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex compliance and reporting issues.
  • Manage and maintain the Financial Data Model (FDM), including cost centers and worktags.
  • Collaborate with HR and Payroll to ensure FDM consistency.
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements for FDM functionality.
  • Develop and distribute financial and analytical reports for budgeting.
  • Prepare specialized budgetary and ad-hoc financial analyses.
  • Develop and monitor the college’s budget in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Monitor, research, and analyze organizational spending and budget variances.
  • Oversee grant and restricted fund performance, ensuring financial integrity.
  • Reconcile Pell Grants, Direct Loans, FSW, and SEOG monthly.
  • Partner with Financial Aid on relevant accounting matters.
  • Process payroll accounting adjustments for fund utilization.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of scholarships with Financial Aid.
  • Maintain and monitor budgets to ensure financial control.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws/regulations (e.g., FERPA, document retention).
  • Assist with data conversions and system enhancement implementations.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, financial management, or a related field with 4 years of professional experience in related areas (or an 8-year combination of related education and experience).
  • Prior supervisory experience is required.
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • CPA licensure preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software.
